The Spanish-speaking population is number two in not only California but the US, with only Mandarin outranking Spanish as the language spoken by the most people in the world. For this reason, at Little Builders Preschool and Daycare we offer all-day immersive Spanish instruction. Children who are exposed to other languages at an early age score higher on standardized tests, become better problem solvers and perform better in school overall. We believe children learn a language more easily when immersed in everyday activities. At our preschool and daycare all communication and teaching is in Spanish, and our goal is for your child to be able to communicate fluently in Spanish when they leave us.
As a parent myself, I faced the challenge of hunting for the perfect family daycare for my youngest son. After many visits to other family daycares and talking to other parents, I realized that finding a quality daycare and affordable preschool was not an easy task. Instead of continuing my search, I decided to start my own preschool and daycare with all the important qualities I was looking for. My youngest son graduated from my preschool, speaks Spanish fluently like a native speaker, and is doing very well in the English program.
Teaching Mission
Teaching is a calling that seeks to make a meaningful difference in our students' lives. It is not simply transferring knowledge by telling children what we know, but rather helping them learn through doing, experimenting, playing, observing, and trying new things.
Teaching means stepping back and listening to our students' interests, passions, and challenges. It involves communicating with parents to understand their children's individual preferences, cultural and religious backgrounds, family values and beliefs, and social environments outside of school.
Teaching is about guiding and observing children while creating a nurturing, stimulating, and challenging environment where they feel empowered to investigate, explore, and discover independently.
It requires us to set aside our own prejudices, respect children's voices, and recognize each child as a unique individual with their own ideas, interests, and abilities.
Teaching should be joyful. Children should have the freedom to make choices about their activities, explore their interests, and actively participate in shaping their learning experiences and curriculum.
We become successful educators when children develop the confidence, independence, curiosity, and genuine passion to learn on their own.
As Maria Montessori expressed:
"The greatest success for a teacher is to be able to say, 'The children are now working as if I did not exist.'"
— Maria Montessori
